NewcasTle Youth Choir Project (NYCP)

NYCP meets NUFC (July 2023)

NYCP Came to life in the spring of 2022.

Formed to give exciting, free-of charge vocal opportunities to anyone in Year 6 or above in the region as part of Newcastle Sings, NYCP is an open-access choir for any young person who loves to sing.

NYCP rehearse weekly on a Tuesday evening during term-time in the music department at Newcastle University. We are supported by Music Partnership North, Newcastle University and North Tyneside Music Education Hub, and work closely with a range of other regional and national partners to provide as many exciting and vibrant choral experiences as we can.

There’s no cost, no expectation to be able to read music and no audition to join. NYCP rehearsals include regular musical literacy sessions and our central aim is to broaden the musical skills and knowledge of everyone in the choir. NYCP also has a Young Leaders programme for anyone aged 14-18 who is interested in developing their own vocal leadership skill
